This past Saturday I attended a Step It Up Rally in our town. People were talking about taking this Global Warming problem on and being very hopeful about it. Yes, there were polital speeches. But, the most telling conversations were the small ones that everyone was having amongst themselves. Everyone there knows that this is the greatest challenge facing us today and the in the future.
It was disappointing to see that the general media did not pay it much mind - a short article here, a photo or two there. Almost no coverage on the TV, etc. Here is a message about people acknowledging their responsibility and the general public is essentially, ignoring it.
Then, the horrible events of yesterday in Virginia occurred. One individual went on a rampage and destroyed more than the lives of those he shot. This person also caused this country and the world to think that there is one more reason to give up on the human race. Of course, the media is all over this - looking for a place to lay blame, a way to cause others (the school's administration) to also be liable. This will be the main focus for at least a week. Which will run it right through the weekend and Earth Day.
The past two days Mother Nature in the form of storms, wind and rain prevented me from posting until this morning. But, human nature forces me to log on even though I may lose power (electrical) again. We, as a people, cannot let fear govern our lives. We must acknowledge and mourn those who fall as a result of the worst of human nature. But, if we are to survive, we must focus on the best of human nature - focus on what we can accomplish and not give in to hopelessness and despair.
I know that this is a little rambling, but we all are part of the One. It is time that we acted that way. Blessed Be - Di
