    Mother Nature/Human Nature:Hope/Despair

    Tuesday, April 17, 2007, 07:55 AM [General]

This past Saturday I attended a Step It Up Rally in our town. People were talking about taking this Global Warming problem on and being very hopeful about it. Yes, there were polital speeches. But, the most telling conversations were the small ones that everyone was having amongst themselves. Everyone there knows that this is the greatest challenge facing us today and the in the future.

It was disappointing to see that the general media did not pay it much mind - a short article here, a photo or two there. Almost no coverage on the TV, etc. Here is a message about people acknowledging their responsibility and the general public is essentially, ignoring it.

Then, the horrible events of yesterday in Virginia occurred. One individual went on a rampage and destroyed more than the lives of those he shot. This person also caused this country and the world to think that there is one more reason to give up on the human race. Of course, the media is all over this - looking for a place to lay blame, a way to cause others (the school's administration) to also be liable. This will be the main focus for at least a week. Which will run it right through the weekend and Earth Day.

The past two days Mother Nature in the form of storms, wind and rain prevented me from posting until this morning. But, human nature forces me to log on even though I may lose power (electrical) again. We, as a people, cannot let fear govern our lives. We must acknowledge and mourn those who fall as a result of the worst of human nature. But, if we are to survive, we must focus on the best of human nature - focus on what we can accomplish and not give in to hopelessness and despair.

I know that this is a little rambling, but we all are part of the One. It is time that we acted that way.  Blessed Be - Di

What Joy - Gardening w/out mosquitos!

    Merry Meet all!

I love this time of year!  You can go out and work in the garden and return without being attacked by blood sucking bugs!  I also love it because with every dead branch and leaf that you remove you see a new shoot working it's way up out of the ground.  There was a clump of dirt from a houseplant that I had dumped in the garden late last fall.  Beneath it I found a bunch of daffodils working their way up.  To help them out I broke the clump up and spread it around a rosebush nearby.

It was surprising to find that at least one of my rose bushes was ready to be pruned.  Of course, that plant is at the front of the house and gets a lot of afternoon sun and warmth.  So far, Mother Nature didn't lose many of her children in my garden.  I just hope that the lack of winter snow cover will not mean a draught later this summer.

Spring blessings to all - blessed be

    In the beginning ...

    Merry Meet  -

This is new for me - this posting in a blog.  I am a kitchen/Green Witch living in New England.  One of my passions is  working with fiber and color.  Hence the name dknitting.  As the weather gets warmer I will bring my pots outside and work my color magic on the fleeces that have been waiting  quietly in the cellar all winter long.

My day job has me traveling throughout New England and I usually go with my black lab RhiRhi.  Her name is short for Rhiannon's Dark Wing.  Yes, I am an avid fan of Stevie Nicks!

I am also an avid gardener.  Today I did a little walk around my garden and found that most of my roses made it through the winter.  I always love this time of year when you clear away the dead leaves and such and find that Mother Earth has taken care of everything no matter what.

    Blessed Be
